Honorary Chairman of the Governing Council, Marico Innovation Foundation

Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, National Research Professor, is presently also the President of Global Research Alliance, a network of publicly funded R&D institutes from Asia-Pacific, Europe and USA with over 60,000 scientists.

Dr. Mashelkar served as the Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with thirty-eight laboratories and about 20,000 employees for over eleven years, leaving a deep imprint on the organization with his visionary and transformative leadership.He was also the President of Indian National Science Academy and President of Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Dr. Mashelkar is on the Board of Directors of several companies such as Reliance Industries Ltd., Tata Motors, Thermax Ltd., Piramal Enterprises Ltd., KPIT Technologies Ltd. etc. He chairs the Boards of Reliance GeneMedix and Vyome Biosciences.

Dr Mashelkar has significantly influenced the intellectual property rights and innovation movement in India. He is currently the Chairman of India’s National Innovation Foundation, Reliance Innovation Council, Thermax Innovation Council, and KPIT Technologies Innovation Council.

Thirty universities have bestowed honorary doctorates on him.

The President of India honoured Dr. Mashelkar with Padmashri (1991), with Padmabhushan (2000) and Padma Vibhushan (2014) which are three of the highest civilian honours in recognition of his contribution to nation building.

Over past three decades, Mr. Mariwala has transformed Marico from a traditional commodity driven business into a leading consumer products & services company, in the Beauty and Wellness space.

Mr. Mariwala’s entrepreneurial drive and passion for Innovation, enthused him to establish the Marico Innovation Foundation in 2003. Under the stewardship of an eminent Board, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to fuel innovation in India. As an expression of his Personal Social Responsibility, Mr. Mariwala recently launched ASCENT – Accelerating the SCaling up of ENTerprises to identify growth-stage entrepreneurs with potential and enable them in their scaling-up journey. In the first year of operations in Mumbai & Pune, ASCENT has garnered a membership of 250+ entrepreneurs and plans to expand to Delhi in the current year reaching a membership of 500 entrepreneurs.

Mr. Mariwala was the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in 2011. He has held several positions as FMCG Committee Chairman of FICCI and CII. Mr. Mariwala has been a part of Young President Organization (YPO) and now a part of World Presidents Organization (WPO).

Ms. Anu Aga is on the Board of Thermax Limited, the leading Indian player in energy and environment management. She retired as Chairperson of the company in October, 2004.

Ms. Aga is the Chairperson of the Thermax Social Initiative Foundation (TSIF) which runs the CSR activities of Thermax. Along with Akanksha, TSIF has signed a MOU to support six municipal schools in Pune. She is also closely associated with the Teach for India Initiative, which attempts bridging the inequity gap in education. She is keenly involved in the causes of communal harmony and human rights, especially women and children.

Mr. Dani was Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Paints Limited from December, 1998 to March, 2009. Currently, he holds the position of non-executive Vice Chairman of the Company. He is the Chairman of Hitech Plast Limited. He is also a member of the Boards of Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd, ACC Limited and Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT), Mumbai.

Mr. Gopalakrishnan has been a professional manager from 1967 onwards: 31 years in Unilever and 15 years in TATA.

He had served in Jeddah as Chairman of Unilever Arabia, in Bangalore as Managing Director of Brooke Bond Lipton India, and finally as Vice Chairman of Hindustan Lever. Currently, he is Director, Tata Sons Ltd, Chairman of Tata Auto-Component Systems and Rallis India, and the vice chairman of Tata Chemicals. He serves on the boards of Tata Power, Tata Technologies, Akzo Nobel India and BP Castrol India.

He has authored best-selling books, some of which have been translated into Chinese, Hindi and Tamil.

Ravi Venkatesan is the former Chairman of Microsoft India and currently Chairman of Social Venture Partners India, a network of engaged philanthropists addressing social problems through venture philanthropy. He is a Venture Partner at Unitus Seed Fund, a director on the boards of AB Volvo and Infosys Ltd. Ravi is the author of a newly released and critically acclaimed book "Conquering the Chaos: Win in India, Win Everywhere" published by Harvard Business Review.

As Chairman of Microsoft India between 2004 and 2011, Ravi helped build India into Microsoft's second-largest presence in the world as well as one of its fastest growing markets. Ravi was instrumental in creating Microsoft India’s Project Shiksha, a computer literacy program which has so far trained over 35 million school children in India

Ravi was recently voted as one of India's best management thinkers by Thinkers50.

Prof. Sujatha currently holds a Canada Research Chair with the Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Prior to this she was with the Tata institute of Fundamental Research. She was a Member of the Knowledge Commission (2007-2009), Member of the National Innovation Council and a Member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (2009-2014). She is currently a Member of the Board of IC-IMPACTS and the National Science and Engineering Research Board (NSERB, Govt. of India). She is a research mathematician and has visited several universities and international research institutions. She is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagard Award (2004) and the ICTP Ramanujan Award (2006).

He was the founding Executive Director and raised multi- million dollar funding for the Center for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC) in the Indian School of Business (ISB).

Prasad co-founded the Entrepreneur Institute for TiE in the Silicon Valley in 2002 to assist entrepreneurs develop soft skills and connect, engage and co-create effectively with others in the ecosystem.

Prasad is co-author of an International Best-seller "From Smart to Wise" (Random House 2013).

Mr. Kishore Mariwala is a retired technocrat.

Professionally, he is a Chemical Engineer with Master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His entire professional career was with erstwhile Bombay Oil Industries Ltd., a company promoted by Mariwala family. He was and is also associated with a number of Research bodies and academic institutions.

Currently he spends his time in social work, farming, traveling and other hobbies.

Dorab Sopariwala

He has spent his full-time working life in market research in the UK and India, ending as the Founder Managing Director of MARG (now a part of the Nielsen Company). Currently, he works as Editorial Adviser to NDTV and as a part-time consultant to FCB Ulka and R&P Edelman. He also consults with companies in the areas of Media and Financial Services.

He is one of the country’s leading election analysts, someone who has watched India’s electoral process for over 30 years. He was educated at the London School of Economics and the Imperial College of Science and Technology and is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.

Naushad Forbes

Naushad Forbes is Director of Forbes Marshall, India's leading Steam Engineering and Control Instrumentation firm. He is the CEO of the Steam Engineering Companies within the group.

Naushad has also been a Consulting Professor at Stanford University in the Program in Science, Technology and Society from 1987 to 2004. He developed courses in Technology and Policy in Newly Industrialized Countries and the Management of Technology in Firms in Newly Industrialized Countries.

Naushad received his Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees from Stanford University and his PhD in Industrial Engineering was on the Process of Technical Entrepreneurship in India, also from Stanford.

His book, co-authored with David Wield, From Followers to Leaders: Managing Technology and Innovation in Newly Industrialising Countries, was published by Routledge in 2002.

Naushad is on the board of several public and private companies and is an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
