How do you differentiate in an industry where there is an uncanny similarity in the offering at the point of impact? Ask Arvind Vasudev and his team in the formulations division of Dr Reddy’s Labs show how.

The medical representatives of DRL were unable to get more than 30 seconds of a doctor’s time in order to market their products. This was a perennial problem in the pharmaceutical business. Rather than resigning themselves to this fact, the team began looking for answers. And out of this search, came the idea of the ‘S Team’.

The S Team is a team of scientific advisors who visit doctors periodically and update them on the latest developments in the field of medicine. Doctors view members of the S Team as sources of valuable information that is of great professional interest/importance to them. This has resulted in a change in the attitudes of doctors towards DRL, which, in turn, has increased their time for their medical representatives.

While the S Team is merely one example of an innovative solution to a problem, the formulations team has continuously challenged the limits of its mindsets to deliver outstandingly innovative strategies that have redefined the rules of the game in the market.
