A breath of fresh air to Rural India
The usage of traditional stoves (chulhas) in India results in health hazards such as lung cancer, tuberculosis, heart diseases, and respiratory ailments like asthma among the women who use them. Envirofit India is urging households to shift to its specially designed low-smoke biomass cook stoves. Scale-Up Program is helping Envirofit enable the adoption of biomass cookstoves on a large scale. From an initial goal of 1,20,000 cookstoves in 2014-15, Envirofit with the help of Scale-Up Program team is targeting to reach 3,25,000 households in 2014-15 and 1 million in 2015-16. This will significantly reduce the indoor pollution footprint on a large scale.
