No there are no fees for applying for the awards. |

Can we submit more than 1 entry from one company/
institution/ individual?
A company or institution may submit multiple entries
in one or more categories; however, the same innovation
cannot be entered in more than one categories. |

3.
Can I use the same form for all innovations being
filed by one company/ institution / individual?
No, a separate form needs to submitted for each
innovation being entered into the awards. |

4.
Can I leave any option blank if I am not sure of
the answer?
No, all questions must be duly answered and only
signed and stamped application forms will be considered
as a valid entry. Only one category should be ticked
for each application form. |

What are the categories for the awards?
There are four categories of awards:

Category: Innovations in the social sector

Service Category: innovations where the Central
or State government or any wing of the government
including public-private partnership has innovated. |

8.
What is the qualification criteria to participate
in the awards?
To be eligible to qualify for an award:
| 1.
|
The
applicant must have been directly involved
in the breakthrough/ innovation journey/ process
(may be the work of one person, a few people
or a large team or department). No third party
consultants should have been involved in the
process. |
|
| 2.
|
Consultants
may enter work they have done for clients.
(In this case, they should enclose a statement
from the client agreeing to be interviewed
for the in-context audit and featured in the
relevant publications if the entry wins) |
|
| 3.
|
The
innovation will be judged against three criteria:
Uniqueness, Impact and Sustainability. |
|
| 4.
|
The
innovation must be one that has been implemented
or has yielded results within the last 5 years.
All innovations that have been implemented
and demonstrated results after 2003 are eligible.
Unimplemented ideas for innovation are not
applicable. This number is not limiting. |

|
All
completed application forms should be submitted
by 30th September, 2009. |

9.
What is the evaluation criteria?
| 1.
|
Uniqueness:
Defines how different and one-of-its-kind
is the innovation. |
|
| 2.
|
Impact:
Measures the output of the innovation in the
form of economic (monetary) impact, social
(society) impact and/ or impact on environment. |
|
| 3.
|
Sustainability:
Helps to understand if, once the innovation
has successfully taken off the ground, is
it able to continue in the absence of the
founding team, or is it dependent on them
for its continued delivery. |
|

10.
What is the selection process once I submit my entry?
The selection process is a unique one, in completeness
and depth of activities.
It will take place in 7 stages:
| 1.
|
Stage
1: Invitation of applications: Applications
should be submitted by a company / organization
/ government body, or nominated by a third
party. All applications should be submitted
by using the form provided, on or before 31st
October, 2009. |

| 2.
|
Stage
2: Erehwon Screening: Each Application will
be reviewed:
o Objectively and
independently by two reviewers
o Ratings will be
totaled
All the Applications
have to be reviewed and the top innovations
will be selected for Stage 3.
Each application would
be assessed using Evaluation Criteria around
Uniqueness,
Impact and Sustainability
of the Innovation. |

Stage
3: Technical panel: The selected candidates
would then be sent to an independent panel
of technical experts who would be eminent
individuals with expertise in their domain.
They would also assess each candidate using
same using Evaluation Criteria around Uniqueness,
Impact and Sustainability of the Innovation. |
|
| 4.
|
Stage
4: In-context audit: A first-hand audit will
be conducted to validate the selected innovations.
Innovation auditors will visit the location
where these innovations have been deployed
and / or through a random audit with those
who have got impacted. |
|
| 5.
|
Stage
5: Jury Phase 1: The jury would be made up
of eminent business and social leaders who
would review the top entries and further shortlist
potential candidates. |
|
| 6.
|
Stage
6: Tele-verification: A Detailed tele- verification
of all candidates shortlisted after first
presentation to the Jury will be done to answer
any queries raised by the jury. |
|
| 7.
|
Stage
7: Jury Phase 2: Using the same evaluation
parameters, the jury will select the winners. |
|
| |
11.
What does the winning organization/ company receive?
Winners will firstly receive national recognition
and publicity. The award recipients will also be
presented with a trophy and a cash price of Rs.1,00,000/-
commemorating their achievement. |

12.
What are the rules for participation?
| 1.
|
Applications
must be submitted only by using the forms
provided. Any entries submitted without the
form will not be accepted. |
|
| 2.
|
All
entries should meet the qualification criteria.
Please familiarize yourself with the criteria
before filling and submitting the application. |
|
| 3.
|
Innovations
could be other than product innovations, i.e.,
business model innovations or process innovations |
|
| 4.
|
All
innovations submitted with relevant supporting
documents should be in original. The entry
will be considered complete only after receipt
of the signed undertaking that is attached
to the application form for each category.
If any violations of regulations for the competition
are discovered at any stage, the entry will
be cancelled. If the rights of any third party
are violated by any participating company,
the entire legal responsibility will be that
of the participant. |

Participants
will have to bear all costs incurred in submitting
the entry and relating to the award. |
|
| 6.
|
The
organizers ('Innovation for India - Marico
Innovation Foundation' and Erehwon Innovation
Consulting) will not be responsible for any
postal delays and will not entertain any correspondence
in this regard. |
|
| 7.
|
A
company or institution may submit multiple
entries for different innovations, provided
they are submitted using a separate application
form. However, the same innovation cannot
be entered in more than one categories. |
|
| 8.
|
Participants
cannot publicize the fact that their work
has been selected/pre-selected until the announcement
of the awards. |
|
| 9.
|
The
organizers reserve the right to cancel/modify/extend/discontinue
the awards without assigning any reasons or
any prior notice. |
|
| 10.
|
Solicitation
and any unfair practices adopted by the participants
to achieve the award will lead to cancellation
of application. |
|
| 11.
|
The
process to decide the winners is open and
transparent |
|
| 12.
|
Decision
of the jury is final and binding on all participants
and no complaints on the selection process
will be entertained |
|
| 13.
|
By
signing the entry form, the participants accept
all the entry conditions and declare that
they own the legal rights and title over the
innovation submitted. They also give their
consent to the following should they be selected
in the final round:
a.
to the publication of material associated
with the innovation in any form as the organizers
may
deem fit,
b.
to participate and exhibit their innovation
during the awards ceremony should they be
selected
in the final round. |

13.
Who will form the jury panel for selecting the winners
of the awards?
The jury would be made up of eminent business and
social leaders, who are independent and have no
connect to the Marico Innovation Foundation or Erehwon
Innovation Consulting, or to any of the shortlisted
candidates. |

14.
Who has institutionalized the awards??
The Marico Innovation Foundation instituted its
first "Innovation for India Awards" in
2006 and these are the 3rd Innovation for India
Awards being conducted by it. Marico Innovation
Foundation was formed in 2003 under the stewardship
of visionaries like Dr. Ramesh Mashelkar. The mission
of the Foundation is to fuel Innovation in India
and focus on providing the country with a belief
that Innovation is a crucial way to leapfrog into
the center stage of global business leadership. |

What is the aim of the Innovation for India Awards?
The awards will:
